Medieval , Medieval siege to the Villa of Gijón, The Scene.

450.00

The Middle Ages, a time of steel and crusades, of feudal tyrants and wandering knights, of epic deeds, myths and legends.

In 1394, during the rising of D. Alfonso, count of Noreña, against his nephew Enrique III de Trastámara, King of Castile, the walled village of Gijón was first besieged by the Castilian army. A year later, the count had fled to France and it was his wife, Isabel de Braganza who took over the defence of Gijón against the troops of King Enrique III. The village would eventually surrender; however, before that, the proud countess set it ablaze.
